Help The Victims of Hurricane Katrina Today
All of Ellner for Manhattan's thoughts are with the victims of the disaster, and those most in need. Please join us in donating to the relief effort.
There are three main ways you can help right now:
1. Donate to Charities Already Working on Relief.
The most important thing you can do right now is to give money to one of the following groups that are leading massive relief efforts across the Gulf. They have proven themselves over time to be trusted organizations, and you can be assured your money will go directly to helping the people who need it most.
Red Cross
Second Harvest
NAACP
Habitat for Humanity
Rainbow Fund
2. Help Find Housing for the Homeless.
Tell all your friends throughout the South about HurricaneHousing.org, a project of MoveOn.org, Democracy for America and True Majority among many other groups.
It is a simple-to-use service that allows anyone to donate space in their homes for use by people left homeless by the destruction of Katrina and its aftermath. So far nearly 150,000 beds have been volunteered through the service.
3. Host a House Party to Raise Money.
Join Americans across the country in holding small and large events in their homes on September 10th to raise money for the charities working around the clock to deliver support and supplies.
